The WLS-Prairie Farmer Building

And the WLS Studios

Above: The Prairie Farmer Building at 1230 West Washington in Chicago as depicted on the cover of the 1955 WLS Family Album. Though Prairie Farmer and WLS are long gone from this location, the building still stands. The WLS studios were located on the third floor (with two rehearsal rooms and a music library located in the penthouse area on the north edge of the building). Present day visitors to the building can still see the studio and control room areas intact, albeit inhabited by new tenants. Eventually I'll provide a video tour through parts of the third floor as they appear today.

Below: A birds-eye view of the third floor of the Prairie Farmer Building showing the layout of the WLS studios, control rooms and offices. This image also appeared in the 1955 WLS Family Album.
